2-Letter Frequencies

These are the 2-letter frequencies from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll.

We scanned the text one letter at a time, counting each pair of two consecutive letters (like "th" or "ea"), only looking at letters a to z (no spaces, punctuation, or numbers) and using lowercase (A and a are treated the same).

Rows and Columns

Each row begins with the letter that comes first, and then we read along to find how many times each letter appears next.

Example: the first row shows you how often letters appear after an "a", so "ab" occurred 213 times, "ac" occurred 157 times, and so on.

Example: run down to row "q" you will see there's only one possibility: "u" (125 times).

Note: this is a nice simple text, but "Alice" appears many times in the text, so "al", "li", and so on are very common, and there are some nonsense words in there too, such as 'Hjckrrh' (an exclamation from the Gryphon).
