Billion

The number usually written as a 1 followed by 9 zeros: 1,000,000,000

The same as a thousand million: 1,000 x 1,000,000 = 1,000,000,000

Using scientific notation: 1 × 109

(In some countries such as the UK it sometimes means a million million: 1,000,000 x 1,000,000 = 1,000,000,000,000 which is a 1 followed by 12 zeros, or 1 × 1012)
