Reciprocal

The reciprocal of a number is 1 divided by the number

Examples:
• the reciprocal of 2 is 1/2 (half)
• the reciprocal of 10 is 1/10 (=0.1)

When we multiply a number by its reciprocal we get 1.

Example: 2 × 1/2 = 1

Every number has a reciprocal except 0 (1/0 is undefined)

The reciprocal can be shown with a little "-1" on the corner like this: x-1 = 1/x

Example: 4-1 = 1/4 = 0.25
