Superscript

A small letter, number or symbol placed slightly above the normal line of text.

It usually means how many times to use the value in a multiplication, called an exponent or power.

Examples:
• the number 2 here: A2 (meaning A squared)
• the number 3 here: x3 (meaning x cubed)

Note: when the letter is down low it is a "subscript".
